First of all, I want to share with you my new hair tutorial. Still I'm not really good at making them, but it think I improved a little ^___^
I'm often asked about my hair, how I take care of it and how I keep it healthy and nice looking. That's why, I decided to make a post about it! Pleas keep in mind I'm not an expert and I'm only sharing with you what I do with my hair and what works on my hair.
First of all, this will be probably disappointing but unfortunately I don't have any miracle secret that makes any hair turn from "old witch" to "ethereal mermaid". I was lucky to be blessed by Mother Nature with thick and strong hair and I mostly focus on keeping it as nice as it is, not on improving its condition.
Ok, let's start!
I believe that minerals and vitamins are basic of having beautiful hair. To produce healthy hair, you body needs to have enough of all of those important elements that are the core of hair. When there's "resources deficit", your hair will start to grow weak and thin, and when it grows like this I don't think there's any way to make it thick by any conditioner, hair mask and so on. I'm trying my best to eat good, I stay away from fast food and highly processed food, instead I cook most of meals by myself, from scratch. I'm vegetarian and everyday I eat lots of vegetables, snack with dried fruits and nuts. But I'm not perfect, usually my portions of food are very small, and lots of my daily calories come from sweets because I'm awful sugar addict and can't stand a few hours without cookies or chocolate >____<
So to ensure that I give my hair everything it needs to grow, everyday in the morning I'm taking one pill of "Vitapil". It has iron, yeast, biotin, zinc, copper, everything that's usually associated with healthy hair. I stared to use it about 1,5 year ago when suddenly my hair stared to massively falling out. I tried few different products but nothing was helping. After 2,5 months of nightmare I stumbled upon Vitapil and 2 weeks later, my problem disappeared. From that time I never part with it <3 Unfortunately I couldn't find it here in Usa, so my family sends it to me every now and then. Puritan's Pride Vitamins for the Hair seems to be very similar, but it lacks for example biotin so I'm not sure if it will work as good as Vitapil does.
-Hair doesn't like high temperature!
To maintain healthy hair I'm avoiding styling with curling iron and straightener. Usually, when I want to curl my hair I try one of the non heat methods, and leave it overnight. I can't stand wet hair because I'm allergic to chlorine in water so, yes, I blow dry it, but always with the lowest temperature. When drying, I'm moving the blow-drier all the time all over my hair and try to keep it not too close to it. Also when washing hair, I do it with cool water. It doesn't have to be freezing cold but it's good to try to avoid hot water.
Before brushing hair, I very delicately detangle it with my fingers. It takes some time but also it prevents damage. With your hand you can untie all those complicated tangle without tearing out your hair. When brushing I divide hair in small parts, then hold one of the parts with hand, and slowly brush it. Ahh, and I never brush wet hair! Wet hair are very fragile and easy to damage that's why I only gently smooth it with fingers.
I wash my hair with chamomile shampoo. I'm using it for a long time now, (I don't know 7-8 years?) and my hair loves chamomile sooo much. In Poland there's big variety of shampoos with it, but again here in Usa I couldn't find any. My favorite is Yves Rocher's one, but Yves Rocher Usa doesn't have it in offer >___<
I know there's a lot of different opinions about trimming hair. I cut my hair once a year about 10cm. I do it mostly for the visual effect, it makes hair even, and even hair looks much more thick and healthy.
-And last but not least, remember to love your hair! Don't drag it, don't stress it, don't fry it, be patient and delicate with it.
I know that most what is written here is common knowledge and I haven said anything new, but I hope this post will help anyone who wants to grown long and beautiful hair.
Thank you for your time <3
